LNPC Sound System
Improvement Plan
A two-phase plan to bring clear, intelligible sound to every seat in the sanctuary.
Background
Our current Bose PA system's limitations have become increasingly apparent with Pastor Ray now leading services at a noticeably more natural volume and faster speaking pace, and a growing number of congregation members have had difficulty hearing clearly during services.
Current Challenges
- The current Bose system is deployed on the ground, in line with the lectern microphone, and firing directly into eight open choir microphones.
- The PA is positioned behind the electric drums, electric organ, and a mic'd acoustic grand piano.
- The system fires directly toward the back of the room.
- No acoustic soft goods are deployed anywhere in the space; the carpet provides some absorption, but is the only treatment present.
- Sound reflects back off the rear wall and entrance, which includes three large double-glass doors.

For those with more significant hearing impairment, an ASL interpretation package is already available. Beyond intelligibility, we also want a more linear, balanced tonal response from the front of the room to the back.
Congregation & Team Communication
Sunday
Heard directly from a number of congregation members about the difficulty hearing services. Their concerns were acknowledged, and each person was assured that a solution is actively being pursued.
Earlier this week
Connected with Pastor Ray, Lee Lee, and Carlos to review the sound issues and align on next steps.

The Plan
We're moving forward on two paths at once: an immediate fix already underway, and a permanent solution in progress alongside it. The immediate work comes first, with the permanent solution to follow.
Immediate Fix
Saturday, 9/12 at 8:30 AM
Ray comes in early, before the memorial service, for an extended sound check with Carlos. Carlos will EQ, adjust signal processing, and tune the PA specifically to Ray's voice while Ray speaks continuously for 20-30 minutes at Sunday cadence and level.
Sunday, 9/13
Fabian mixes the service using the tuning profile Carlos established, on the current PA setup.
Sunday, 9/20
Carlos returns to deploy our LNPC-owned K12 speakers on stands as temporary PA support, with better placement, improved clarity and tone, and a narrower, more controlled coverage pattern.
Permanent Solution
In progress
Ben has already reached out to contacts regarding a potential permanent PA solution.
Monday, 9/14
Brandon, an installer from Sound Image, visits LNPC to assess the space and provide recommendations for a system realistically suited to the room.
Decision point
Determine whether we re-deploy our former EAW PA system in a more effective placement, or invest in a new PA system.
Fundraising
Determine how we'll fund the project, including what budget is available and what additional fundraising may be needed.
Installation
Install and tune the new PA system.
