Meet Pastor Ray

The PNC is honored to recommend that LNPC extend a call to Rev. Dr. Ray Medina as our next pastor.

Rev. Dr. Ray Medina

Ray has been in ministry for more than twenty years, serving with youth, with young adults, and as an ordained Solo and Associate Pastor. He brings theological depth and a genuine love for Christ to everything he does - alongside a sense of humor that keeps a congregation grounded and smiling. Those around him will tell you the same thing: Ray has a gift for elevating the people around him with his joy, his creativity, and his warmth.

Ray earned a Master of Divinity from Fuller Theological Seminary in 2010, focused on youth and family ministry, and was ordained in the PC(USA) in 2015. While serving as a pastor, he went on to complete a Doctor of Ministry at Fuller in 2024, specializing in adaptive leadership - training that equips him to guide a congregation through seasons of change with clarity, courage, and creativity.

Family

Ray is married to Jeannine, and together they've shared life from as far as Atlanta to as near as Long Beach - fun fact: when Ray started dating Jeannine, she was living right here in Laguna Niguel. They have two teenage sons, Micah (14) and Jayden (12), both experts in reminding their dad that he is not nearly as funny as he thinks he is. The boys were born in the Bay Area, and the family has spent the last six years in Chico, California.

Off the Clock

When he's not serving the church, Ray can be found cycling, reading, dating his wife, outpacing his family on Duolingo, and fighting gravity at the gym. Ask him "Where are you from?" and he likes to borrow a line from Johnny Cash: "I've been everywhere, man." His formative years were spent in the Chicago area, though his childhood days were spent in the desert town of El Paso, Texas.

    Ray was brought to LNPC for a tour of the campus and in-person conversations with the PNC.

    LNPC's Session reviewed and approved the PNC's recommendation.

    COM Approval

    The Committee on Ministry (Presbytery of Los Ranchos) reviewed and approved the recommendation.

  5. 5 Final Step - August 16, 2026

    Congregational Meeting & Vote

    The congregation will gather to vote on extending a call to Ray. This is the final step in the process - we hope you'll join us.
