Some Favorite Past Events
Valentine Brunch – February 14th
Event was held after service. Pastor Paul reached out and asked we coordinate with Dan Gara to combine event with one of the Lenten Bible study courses after service. Event was well received although was not labeled a Valentine Brunch due to events. We had roughly 40 people.
Talent/No Talent Show – April 2nd
Event was held at 7:00 pm. We served refreshments and deserts. The talent no talent show was a great success with a lot of positive feed back. Food provided, was a Pot Luck. Nancy, Arlene and Ana were the driving forces in all coordination, but entire team less myself really put in a lot of effort. The participants were awesome and all too willing to sign up! We will be duplicating this next year! We had around 110 people in attendance and certainly hope to grow this year.
Church Carnival with VBC Barbecue – July 17th
We had a great turn out this year, I felt the partnership with VBC was perfect for a day of fellowship. Dunk tank, boat races, fishing for toys, bean bag toss all were a hit with adults and children. Magic show by Hector Arias and face painting by Lori Arias are always top notch. We had MUCH better feed back from burgers, hot-dogs, fruit salad, Asian salad, Caesar salad, chips and popcorn than the previous years BBQ. This year we will duplicate same arrangement. Chuck was on the camera, Nancy handed out tickets along with Arlene, Scott was dunked! We had over 120 people this year!
Meet and Greet – New Pastor Saturday July 30th 1:00 – 3:00
This went well. Jim met with congregation and light refreshments were served. 50 roughly in attendance.
Meet and Greet – New Pastor after service Sunday July 31st
This was a success all went well… Roughly 50 in attendance
Pastor Paul Farewell Potluck August 28th
We had a tremendous turn out of over 140 people in attendance. Pot luck went great, we enjoyed more variety of dishes than any to date through our CL&G leadership. Thank you congregation for your support and culinary talents. Nancy – love them potatoes!
Pastor Welcoming Pot luck following first Official sermon on Sept 18th
We were expecting 130-200 people for the pot luck following the sermon. Guard hall was opened up and decorated nicely. We counted around 160 people
Beach Party – September Saturday the 24th
Beach party was a bit on the small side with around 20 in attendance. We liked Doheny beach, but will likely turn over to Youth for next year if people wish to continue event. We did hot dogs and burgers, no surprise it was a hit.
Pumpkin Carving Contest/Trunk or Treat – October 26th
The pumpkin Carving Contest was a huge success this year! We partnered with Stacey and John Denton for a trunk or treat that was very well received. We had over 80 people in the pumpkin carving contest and counted close to 200 for trunk or treat and outside games. We will definitely look to duplicate if everyone is on board. We will look to order trophies again, but will purchase more ribbons. Lori Arias was on hand for face painting which seemed to be an endless line for her.
